Equal Pay

Are you doing the same work as the men in your office but earning less money? Are you making less wages because of your race? If so, you could have a claim under the Equal Pay Act. You do not have to have the same job title as the men in your office to win your claim. Instead, if you can show that you are doing roughly the same work as the men in your office, you could have a claim. Equal Pay Act claims cover more than just your salary. They also cover things like overtime pay, bonuses, stock options, benefits, life insurance, and vacation time. The lack of equal pay is a form of discrimination.

Equal Pay Act Claims

If you are earning less than the men in your office, but you are doing substantially the same work, you may have claims under both the Equal Pay Act and Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, which prohibits gender discrimination. Title VII claims have shorter time frames for filing charges than Equal Pay Act claims.
